Project Elephant in India – Protecting Our Heritage

Introduction:
Project Elephant is a crucial wildlife conservation program in India that was started in 1992. It is all about safeguarding our national heritage animal, the Asian elephant.

Objectives:

Habitat Conservation: It focuses on preserving where elephants live by creating special areas for them called elephant reserves.

Human-Elephant Conflict:Due to ever increasing human population  Project Elephant helps solve problems when elephants and people have conflicts, like elephants eating crops. 

Healthcare and Welfare: The project elephant  cares for elephants in captivity, making sure they are treated well and kept healthy.

Community Participation: People who live near elephants are included in the project to help protect the animals.
